Welcome
“I was born a Texan and raised a Baptist. My first music influences were hymns, honky tonks and Buddy Holly.” – JDH
JD is burning midnight oil in L.A. with collaborator Ross Vannelli to finish the music for REFUGE, a Mark Medoff film produced by Ginger Perkins. Linda Hamilton stars. Expect more musical synergy as Hinton and Vannelli team again for the score and soundtrack. Updates at twitter.com/jdhinton or continue to check this website.
THANK YOU to two great audiences for the JD HINTON “Songs in the Night” Concerts in LA. The Lost Studio Theater had a speakeasy vibe — a door with an address on La Brea Ave in Hollywood. Inside, the stairs led up to a superb theater with a grand lobby and bar. The show moved. The band was HOT. Andrea Ross-Greene said this: “It was more than music. It was an experience.”
JD’s in the studio. Check out “I Have to Dream” Beth Ullman’s bossa-jazz CD. Hinton co-produced with Beth three Hinton/Solem tunes. Walk With Me, a song Beth and JD wrote last summer, is also on the CD. She’s terrific.
THANK YOU for two SOLD OUT shows: JDH BACKSTAGE @ THE HIPPODROME was in Waco, Texas. You had to know someone to get invited. There was a password to get in and the audience came through an unmarked back door they learned about from E-mail. Once inside they found (what Hinton calls) the Wide Brim Chili House where the motto is: Music No Beans
